Registration Advertising Ads MyAds - My Account Policies Browsing
Registration ▲ top

Do I have to register?

Registration is simple. Browse to our register page, enter a unique username and email and complete your personal details. On registration your account will be created immediately and you will be logged in. You will then have full access to create and manage an advertising dashboard.

Is it free to register and post ads?

Registration is completely free. Advert listing incurs a small charge dependent upon what type of advert you post and any additional options (see How do the advert pricings work?).

What are ad options when posting?

Ad options give you the flexibility to create an advert to set it apart or make it stand out. We do require a small payment to use these featured icons. Details are below...

Price £1.00 (single cost)
Shopping Shopping walking distance
Computer Computer
Games Console Games Console
Bars Bars walking distance
Cinema Cinema near by
Stereo Stereo
Golfing Golfing facilities close by
Tennis Courts Tennis courts
Television Television
Winter Break Winter break/skiing
Sunshine Holiday Sunshine holiday
Internet Access Internet access
Games Area Games area

Is there any restriction on the created ads?

The ads will be advertised for a duration selected and under a location. Last minute ads can have duration from 1 to 8 weeks. Once expired they can be easily relisted (this will incur a 2nd payment equal to the original payment). Permanent ads (6/12 month with/without availability calendar) are displayed for either of the two durations. If the advert has an availability calendar, the advert will be displayed in any search results if the property is free for the dates specified (this gives the person searching better information about when the property is available).

Once adverts have been created they can be monitored, edited (including photos) or removed. The one restriction through the adverts dashboards is the options cannot change. These have been charged and paid for so remain static for the duration on the advert.

How long is an ad listed?

This depends entirely upon the advert type and selection made and paid for (Please see Is there any restriction on the created ads?).

How do I get notified from a potential holidaymaker?

All enquires or offers will arrive to you via your registered email account. You will be informed of their query and contact details. You will then be able to reply via email as you see fit.

How do I reply to a potential holidaymaker?

(Please see How do I get notified from a potential holidaymaker?)

How does the 'open to offers' work?

If you select the 'open to offers' tick box when you create the advert, this advertises to prospective holiday makers that your last minute deal is open to receive an offer. They can then contact you (via email) and offer a price different to that advertised. This may give you a better chance of filling those spare weeks!

How do I know if an enquiry is trustworthy?

You must use your own judgement to verify the authenticity of all enquires (please see Terms of Use).

How does the PayPal payment work?

We use PayPal's payment service for all our adverts. This is so you know and can have confidence that an established online payment provider is dealing with any transactions you make. We do not store any card details at all as this is handled entirely by PayPal. Once an advert is created that requires payment we redirect you to PayPal. PayPal then process your payment and notify our website (you can make a payment with or without a PayPal account). We then notify you of the transaction and we activate your advert on completion.

How do the advert pricings work?

Permanent Ads – 6 months £1.00, 12 months £1.00
Last Minute Ads – Up to 2 weeks free then £0.25 for each additional week.

How do I prepare a photo for upload?

Photos are resized when displayed but you can reduce the upload time. The largest photos we show are 450 pixels wide by 337 pixels tall. If you reduce the photo size to that or a number above, this will reduce upload time.
If you are running Windows XP, we recommend a great FREE tool created by Microsoft called "Image Resizer", you can use it to resize one or many image files with a right-click. You can download this great tool from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

How do I cancel an advertisement?

An advert can be unlisted from the advert dashboard. Login to your account; browse to MyAds to view your active ads. Select the option unlist to the right of the list. This will then remove it from public view and move it to your inactive ads. From here it can then be permanently removed.

Can I get my money back for an advertisement created by mistake?

If the advert has been listed for less than a week we can issue a refund through PayPal. We MUST receive an email to admin@holidayhomeadverts.co.uk (or via Contact Us) within a week of the advert being activated to remove the advert and issue a refund (please see Terms of Use).

How do I contact the owner or agent?

You may contact the owner or agent by viewing the ad and selecting (Respond to Ad). This will send an email to the advertiser with you contact details.

How should I make an offer?

If the advert is open to offers a link will appear (Make an Offer...). You can then complete a simple form making your offer and submit to send an email proposing your offer to the advertiser.

What's the meaning of the icons displayed on an advertisement?

The icons displayed next to advert show what features the property or holiday has (i.e. TV, stereo, tennis courts ...). If you hover over the icon you will see a description.

What is the difference between 'Last Minute' and 'Permanent Ads'?

Last Minute ads are advertising a deal short notice to the arrival date. These can be open to offers and can be searched for and are easily visible on the home page. Permanent Ads are properties advertised for a 6 or 12 month duration. These can also have an availability calendar (if selected by the advertiser). These adverts will show a 'prices from' description in the search results but full details will have to be requested from the advertiser. If an availability calendar exists this shows the availability and prices from week to week.

How do I view availability?

If the advert has an availability calendar, this is visible on the 'Availability' tab when viewing the ad. If no calendar is present a query must be raised to the advertiser via the 'Respond' tab.

How can I guarantee the property is child safe or disability friendly?

If the advert has a (Child Safe) or a (Disability Friendly) the advertising is stating that the property is safe for children or modified for disabled access. As stated in the website Terms of Use (Terms of Use), we can not guarantee the accuracy of the advert and you must make your own judgement. We recommend that any reservations or queries be settled with the advertiser prior to booking.

How can I view all my advert listings?

How can I view all my sent and received offers?

The advertising dashboard only provides a count of the number or enquires (general, booking or offers) sent to your mail account. It is your responsibility to store your received emails if you wish to keep them for reference.

Can I review my ads to see how many people have viewed them?

When viewing MyAds basic stats are visible in the dashboard to show you the number of views, responses and even a 'Who is looking now' viewer. Select the link and a small popup window will show you a count of any people currently looking at your advertisement.
